The reddit page /r/guildwars2 did a survey among 3700 players in BWE2, here are the results. There are no big surprises, apart from the amount of people over 40 playing ranger.

Very interesting, I'm very surprised about the numbers of the thief, i thought there would be more people who wants to play as a thief

I guess some are afraid to pick thief because it still gives of the "playing solo, great DPS"-vibe. People are too set in their ways from other MMOs.

lol i'm really not suprised by the amount who are playing ele and why more females are drawn to ele, mesmer and necro. Heheh i was drawn to them 3 at first aswell

None of them appeal to me

I prefer the ranger or engineer.
