I'm just watching the latest guildcast and it spoke about the hunger royal. Did any of you guys play this? - Some people say this might actually be in the end game. The event sounds so cool! 

I was there… and died in a big fight quite early. It was a really cool event. Got some funny screens with the observer-bots afterwards:

Love the pic's!    They said people can't hide behind a tree for the whole match because you start to loose health from lack of food & you have to collect food to survive.  

Yeah, you lost 15 hp every 5 seconds i think. And the rations didn't restore all that much, and only did so slowly.

when you died you got to steer bots? same as in the other events, the "zombies"?

Yup, if you died after the first 15 minutes of testing were over, you turned into one of these bots. They could drop ammo, make a map beacon for surviving allies to see where enemies are and put up a bullet stopping shield to protect their friends for a few seconds. If you were killed as a robot, you just respawned. When there were only a few people left, the robots started swarming around any player they found, effectively becoming a shield of bodies, making it really hard to kill the player.

I hope they put it in the release, with a few changes it could be a really unique idea!
